Accumulating Snowfall Expected North of the Sault
Winter Weather Advisory Issued
Significant Snowfall Predicted
A winter weather advisory has been issued for areas north of the Sault, with accumulating snowfall expected from Thursday into Friday morning. Environment Canada predicts 15 to 25 centimetres of snow will fall during this period, with higher amounts possible in some areas.
The snowfall is expected to begin late Thursday afternoon or evening and intensify overnight. Snowfall rates could reach 2 to 4 centimetres per hour at times. The snow is expected to taper off to flurries or light snow by Friday morning.
Motorists are advised to prepare for hazardous winter driving conditions. Reduced visibility, slippery roads, and snow-covered surfaces are all expected. Drivers should adjust their speed and allow for extra travel time.
Pedestrians are also advised to take precautions and wear appropriate footwear. The snowfall could make sidewalks and walkways slippery and hazardous.
Environment Canada urges residents to monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and to take necessary precautions to stay safe during the winter storm.
