Ange Postecoglou Told His Style is ‘One-dimensional’ After Another Spurs Loss
Postecoglou’s Celtic Continue Winless Pre-season Run
Ange Postecoglou’s new-look Celtic side continued their winless pre-season run on Saturday with a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in Sydney.
The Scottish Premiership champions have now lost three and drawn one of their four pre-season matches so far, with their only goal coming in a 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers.
Postecoglou Admits Celtic Are ‘One-dimensional’
After the match, Postecoglou admitted that his team were ‘one-dimensional’ and that they need to find more ways to create chances.
“We were too one-dimensional in our attack,” Postecoglou said.
“We need to find more ways to create chances and be more clinical in front of goal.”
Celtic’s Lack of Cutting Edge
Celtic’s lack of cutting edge in front of goal was evident against Spurs, with the Scottish champions failing to register a single shot on target in the first half.
The Hoops did improve in the second half, but they were still unable to find the back of the net, with Giorgos Giakoumakis and Daizen Maeda both missing good chances.
Postecoglou’s Work Cut Out
Postecoglou has a lot of work to do if he is to get Celtic firing on all cylinders before the start of the new season.
The Scottish champions have a number of new signings to integrate into the team, and Postecoglou will need to find a way to get the best out of them.
Celtic’s Next Pre-season Match
Celtic’s next pre-season match is against Sydney FC on Wednesday.
The match will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, and it will be the Hoops’ final match before they return to Scotland.
