Manchester United thrash Burnley, Tottenham beat Forest, Newcastle outclass Chelsea

Manchester United thrashed Burnley 4-1, Tottenham beat Nottingham Forest 2-0, and Newcastle outclassed Chelsea 2-0 in the EFL Cup fourth round on Wednesday.

Christian Eriksen, Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Scott McTominay scored for United, while Wout Weghorst grabbed a consolation for Burnley.

Tottenham advanced thanks to goals from Ryan Sessegnon and Harry Kane, while Newcastle booked their place in the last eight with strikes from Sean Longstaff and Joelinton.

Elsewhere, Southampton beat Lincoln City 2-1, Leicester City overcame MK Dons 3-0, and Wolves edged out Gillingham 2-0.

Tottenham beat Forest to book quarter-final spot

Ryan Sessegnon opened the scoring for Spurs in the 20th minute with a close-range finish.

Harry Kane sealed the win for Tottenham with a penalty in the second half.

Newcastle dominate Chelsea to reach last eight

Newcastle United produced a superb performance to beat Chelsea 2-0 in the EFL Cup fourth round at St James' Park.

Sean Longstaff gave Newcastle the lead in the 30th minute with a well-taken goal.

Joelinton doubled the lead for the Magpies just before half-time with a stunning strike from outside the box.
