Enzo Maresca on whether Filip Jorgensen is close to being Chelsea's No.1
Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca responded to questions about whether or not young goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen is close to becoming the club's first-choice goalkeeper.
Maresca was speaking ahead of Chelsea's Premier League 2 match against Arsenal on Friday, and he was asked about Jorgensen's progress since joining the club from AGF in the summer of 2022.
Jorgensen has been in impressive form for Chelsea's development squad this season, and he has also made two appearances for the first team in the EFL Trophy.
"Filip is a very talented goalkeeper, and he has a lot of potential," Maresca said. "He is still young, but he is learning and developing all the time."
Maresca was then asked if Jorgensen is close to being ready to challenge Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy for a place in the first team.
"It is too early to say if he is ready to be Chelsea's No.1 goalkeeper," Maresca said. "He needs to continue to work hard and develop his game."
However, Maresca did say that Jorgensen is "definitely one for the future."
