Musiala Shines with Goal and Assist as Bayern Dominate
German giants FC Bayern Munich booked their place in the quarterfinals of the DFB-Pokal with a commanding 4-0 victory over 1. FSV Mainz 05 on Wednesday evening. The Bundesliga leaders put in a dominant performance, controlling the game from start to finish.
Jamal Musiala was the star of the show for Bayern, scoring the opening goal and setting up another. The young German midfielder has been in impressive form this season and continues to show why he's considered one of the brightest talents in world football.
Bayern took the lead in the 17th minute when Musiala finished off a fine team move, beating Mainz goalkeeper Robin Zentner with a low shot into the bottom corner. The visitors doubled their advantage just before half-time, with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting heading home a cross from Alphonso Davies.
Mainz offered little resistance in the second half, and Bayern continued to create chances at will. Musiala turned provider in the 56th minute, teeing up Thomas Müller for a simple tap-in. The Bundesliga champions added a fourth goal in the 83rd minute, with Serge Gnabry curling a superb effort into the top corner.
The victory extends Bayern's unbeaten run in all competitions to 10 matches. They will now turn their attention back to the Bundesliga, where they sit top of the table with a five-point lead over second-placed Union Berlin.
