Liverpool sweat over Federico Chiesa fitness ahead of Real Madrid clash as Feyenoord boss provides injury update
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is yet to have the full complement of his squad available to him this season due to a constant stream of injuries.
And that trend looks set to continue ahead of Tuesday night's Champions League last-16 first-leg clash with Real Madrid.
Federico Chiesa is a major doubt for Liverpool's Champions League clash with Real Madrid after suffering a fresh injury setback.
The Italian winger has been sidelined since October with a hamstring issue and was expected to return to action in February.
However, he has suffered a new setback in his recovery and is now unlikely to be fit for the first leg of the last-16 tie against Real Madrid on February 21.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is yet to have the full complement of his squad available to him this season due to a constant stream of injuries.
And that trend looks set to continue ahead of Tuesday night's Champions League last-16 first-leg clash with Real Madrid.
Chiesa is not the only player who is likely to miss the game, with Thiago Alcantara, Ibrahima Konate and Calvin Ramsay also sidelined.
Klopp will be hoping to have some of his injured players back for the second leg of the tie at the Bernabeu on March 15.
But the German boss knows that his team will need to be at their best to overcome Real Madrid, who are the reigning champions of Europe.
Liverpool have a good record against Real Madrid in recent years, having won the last two meetings between the two sides.
But Klopp is aware that the Spanish giants will be a tough opponent, especially in their own backyard.
"Real Madrid are a great team," said Klopp.
"They are the champions of Europe and they have a lot of experience in this competition.
"We will need to be at our best to beat them, but we are confident that we can do it."
