First Good Snowfall of the Season in Northern Ontario
Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Several Regions
Snowfall Amounts Varying Across the Region
The first significant snowfall of the season has hit northern Ontario, prompting Environment Canada to issue winter weather advisories for several regions.
Snowfall amounts have varied across the region, with some areas receiving as much as 25 centimetres of snow, while others have seen less than 10 centimetres. The heaviest snowfall has been reported in the Sudbury, Timmins, and North Bay areas.
The snow has caused slippery road conditions and reduced visibility, leading to several accidents. Motorists are being advised to exercise caution and allow extra time for their commutes.
Snowfall Expected to Continue
The snowfall is expected to continue throughout the day, with Environment Canada predicting an additional 5 to 10 centimetres of snow in some areas.
The snow is expected to taper off by this evening, but cold temperatures will persist. Overnight temperatures are expected to drop to -10 degrees Celsius, with wind chills making it feel even colder.
