KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KSHB) - Severe weather is likely this evening across the Kansas City area, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The NWS has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for much of the region, including Jackson, Clay, Platte, and Cass counties in Missouri, as well as Johnson, Wyandotte, and Leavenworth counties in Kansas.
The main threats with this evening's storms will be tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail.
The NWS urges residents to monitor weather conditions closely and be prepared to take shelter if necessary.
If you see a tornado, take shelter in a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of your home.
If you are caught outside, lie down in a ditch or other low-lying area and cover your head with your hands.
