Lisa Kudrow, Dustin Hoffman, and Michael Keaton were among the stars who gathered to honor the late Teri Garr, who played the beloved Marla Hooch in the 1992 film “A League of Their Own.”
Garr died in December 2022 at the age of 75 after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. She was remembered by her castmates as a talented actress, a warm and generous friend, and a true inspiration.
"She Was a Force of Nature"
“Teri was a force of nature,” said Kudrow, who played Dottie Hinson in the film. “She was so full of life and energy, and she always made everyone around her feel happy. She was a true friend, and I will miss her dearly.”
Hoffman, who played Jimmy Dugan in “A League of Their Own,” said that Garr was “one of the most talented actresses I’ve ever worked with.”
"She was able to bring so much depth and humanity to the role of Marla Hooch,” Hoffman said. “She will be deeply missed.”
"She Was an Inspiration to Us All"
Keaton, who played Bob Hinson in the film, said that Garr was “an inspiration to us all.”
"She never let her illness define her,” Keaton said. “She always kept a positive attitude, and she always made us laugh. She will be forever in our hearts.”
The cast of “A League of Their Own” reunited for a special tribute to Garr at the 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards. The event was attended by many of the film’s stars, including Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Rosie O’Donnell, and Lori Petty.
The tribute included a video montage of Garr’s best moments from the film, as well as speeches from her castmates. The event was a fitting tribute to a beloved actress who will be dearly missed.
