Marc Márquez Wins Malaysian Grand Prix, Extends MotoGP Championship Lead

Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix

Marc Márquez of the Repsol Honda Team has won the Malaysian Grand Prix, extending his lead in the MotoGP championship standings with just two races remaining in the 2022 season.

Márquez started the race from pole position but was quickly passed by Ducati's Francesco Bagnaia. However, Márquez retook the lead on lap 4 and never looked back, eventually winning by a margin of over 5 seconds.

Bagnaia finished second, ahead of Enea Bastianini of the Gresini Racing MotoGP Team. Bastianini had a strong race, starting from 10th on the grid and moving up to third by the end of the first lap.

Race Highlights

The victory was Márquez's first since the German Grand Prix in June and his fifth of the season. It also marked his 100th career MotoGP podium finish.

With the win, Márquez has extended his lead in the championship standings to 23 points over Bagnaia. With just two races remaining, Márquez is now in a strong position to win his seventh MotoGP title.

The next race on the MotoGP calendar is the Australian Grand Prix, which will be held at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on October 16.
