NEP Vs USA, ICC CWC League 2: Nepal Lose By Three Wickets Against United States In Thriller

Nepal lost to the United States by three wickets in a thrilling match of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 on Wednesday.

Batting first, Nepal posted a competitive total of 221 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Opener Aasif Sheikh top-scored for Nepal with 54 runs off 74 balls, while skipper Rohit Paudel contributed 43 runs off 69 balls. Dipendra Singh Airee also chipped in with a valuable 34 runs off 44 balls.

Kushal Malla and Sundeep Lamichhane took three wickets each for Nepal, while Karan KC and Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi claimed two wickets apiece.

In reply, the United States chased down the target with three wickets in hand and two balls to spare. Steven Taylor top-scored for the USA with an unbeaten 100 runs off 129 balls, while Aaron Jones contributed 52 runs off 87 balls. Gajanand Singh also played a crucial knock of 32 runs off 39 balls.

Nepal's bowlers tried their best to defend the total, but the American batsmen held their nerve to secure a thrilling victory. The loss was Nepal's second in the tournament, while the United States registered their first win.

Nepal will now face Papua New Guinea in their next match on Friday, while the United States will take on Scotland.

The ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 is a qualifying tournament for the 2023 Cricket World Cup. The top three teams from the league will qualify directly for the World Cup, while the fourth-placed team will get a chance to qualify through a play-off tournament.
