Nepal loses to USA by three-wickets in a nail-bite finish in ICC ODI series
Nepal’s hopes of winning the ICC ODI series were dashed after they lost to the USA by three wickets in a nail-biting finish.
Nepal batted first and scored 248 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 50 overs. Captain Rohit Paudel top-scored with 81 runs, followed by Aasif Sheikh’s 52 runs.
In reply, the USA chased down the target with just three wickets to spare. Opener Steven Taylor top-scored with 98 runs, while Gajanand Singh contributed 54 runs.
Nepal’s bowlers fought hard, but they were unable to defend the total. Sandeep Lamichhane was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets for 54 runs.
Nepal’s loss means that the USA have won the ICC ODI series 2-1. This is a historic victory for the USA, as it is the first time they have beaten Nepal in an ODI series.
Nepal will be disappointed with the result, but they will take heart from the fact that they played well in patches. They will now turn their attention to the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier, which will be held in Zimbabwe in June.
The USA will be delighted with their victory. They have shown that they are a force to be reckoned with in ODI cricket. They will now be looking to build on this success and qualify for the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2023.
