Wrexham confirm capture of highly-rated young defender Aaron Hayden

Wrexham have completed the signing of former Manchester United academy defender Aaron Hayden on a two-year deal, the club have confirmed.

The 20-year-old, who can play at left-back or centre-back, has been training with the Reds over the summer and has impressed manager Phil Parkinson enough to earn a contract.

Hayden was released by United at the end of last season after failing to make a first-team appearance for the Red Devils, but he has been capped by Wales at under-19 level.

Hayden excited to join Wrexham and help them achieve their goals

Speaking to the club's website, Hayden said: "I'm delighted to have signed for Wrexham. It's a great club with a lot of history and tradition, and I'm excited to be a part of it.

I've been impressed with the manager and the players during my time training with the team, and I believe that we can achieve something special this season.

Parkinson pleased to add Hayden to his squad

Parkinson added: "Aaron is a very talented young player who has a lot of potential. He's a good defender, he's comfortable on the ball, and he's got a great attitude.

I'm confident that he can make a big contribution to our team, and I'm looking forward to working with him.

Hayden is Wrexham's fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Jordan Tunnicliffe, Elliot Lee, and Jake Hyde.

The Reds are looking to build on their impressive fifth-place finish in the National League last season, and they will be hoping that Hayden can help them push for promotion to League Two.
