Rainfall patterns

Rainfall was received in much of the southern and eastern parts of the country over the past week, with the highest rainfall totals recorded in the eastern and central parts of the country. The highest rainfall total was recorded at Messina (Limpopo Province), which received 100 mm of rain over the past week. Other areas that received significant rainfall include parts of Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Free State, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.

Rainfall outlook

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) predicts that rainfall is expected to continue over the coming week, with the highest rainfall totals expected in the eastern and central parts of the country. The SAWS has issued a yellow level 2 warning for disruptive rain and possible flooding over the coming week.

The rainfall is expected to be accompanied by strong winds and possible hail. The SAWS has warned that the rainfall could lead to flooding in low-lying areas.
