Young on Everton's well earned draw at Fulham: We've got that never-say-die attitude
Fulham held high-flying Everton to a 0-0 draw at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
The result leaves Everton fourth in the Premier League table. Meanwhile, Fulham remain 18th, two points from safety.
Everton started the match brightly. However, it was Fulham who created the first clear-cut chance of the game. In the 10th minute, Aleksandr Mitrovic fired wide from close range.
Fulham continued to press after the break. Mitrovic had another chance to score in the 55th minute. But his header was saved by Jordan Pickford.
Everton had a great chance to win the game in the 89th minute. Richarlison’s last-minute shot was cleared off the line by Tosin Adarabioyo.
The result was a fair reflection of the match. Fulham defended resolutely and Everton lacked a cutting edge in the final third.
Speaking after the game, Everton manager Marco Silva praised his team’s spirit. “We showed great character today,” he said. “We never gave up and we kept fighting until the end. We’re disappointed not to win, but we’re still in a good position in the table.”
Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri was also pleased with his team’s performance.“ It was a very good performance from us,” he said. “We defended very well and we created some good chances. We’re starting to show what we can do and I’m confident that we can stay in the Premier League.”
