Made in America: Weston McKennie and Tim Weah protect Juventus’ unbeaten record
McKennie and Weah help Juventus earn a hard-fought draw against Salernitana
Weston McKennie and Tim Weah were both on target as Juventus extended their unbeaten run in Serie A to 10 matches with a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Salernitana on Sunday. McKennie gave Juventus the lead in the 18th minute with a header from Juan Cuadrado's cross. Weah doubled the lead in the 39th minute with a fine solo effort, beating two defenders before firing into the bottom corner.
Salernitana fought back in the second half, with goals from Boulaye Dia and Krzysztof Piatek earning them a point
Salernitana pulled a goal back in the 51st minute through Dia, who headed in a cross from Pasquale Mazzocchi. Piatek then equalised for the hosts in the 62nd minute, finishing off a move that started with a long ball from Guillermo Ochoa. Juventus pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but Salernitana held on for a deserved point.
McKennie and Weah have been in excellent form for Juventus this season
McKennie has scored three goals in his last four Serie A matches, while Weah has scored two goals and provided one assist in his last three appearances. The two Americans have been key contributors to Juventus' resurgence under coach Massimiliano Allegri, and they will be hoping to help the team continue their unbeaten run when they face Fiorentina next weekend.
