Northem Moscow Oblast Cities Getting New Youth Centers

Large urban okrug Lyubertsy among cities in Russia's Moscow Oblast preparing for new youth centers. This is according to the press service for Moscow Oblast Governor Andrei Vorobyov.

Facilities are planned for the Dzerzhinsky, Khimki, and Lyubertsy urban okrugs. Current plans call for work on Lyubertsy’s center to start in the first half of 2023, with the other two to launch before the end of the year. The facilities will be designed to feel welcoming to teenagers, who will have access to various areas for activities.

The new venues will host master classes, competitions, and leisure and career guidance activities and counseling.

Additional spaces will be available for teens to socialize, study, access WiFi, and cook. The new centers also plan classes including robotics, musical instruments, drawing, dancing, singing, and a variety of sports. Professional educators will lead the classes. There will also be career guidance counselors on hand to discuss educational opportunities and professional development.

In Lyubertsy, the new facility will open on the site of a former cinema, while the Khimki center will open in a custom-built facility. Dzerzhinsky’s former Youth House will host their new hub.

YOUTH GETTING OPPORTUNITIES TO GROW IN MOSCOW OBLAST

Moscow Oblast is committed to creating opportunities for its youth. The region has already established 60 youth centers and is investing in the construction of another 20. These facilities provide teens with a safe and supportive environment to learn, grow, and develop their skills. Moscow Oblast Ministry of Physical Culture and Sport advises that, “The new facilities will complement the existing infrastructure and help ensure that every teenager in the region has access to high-quality youth services."

The Ministry sees the new centers as vital to the region’s youth development strategy. The facilities will provide young people with the opportunity to develop their potential and become active members of society. Moscow Oblast Governor Andrei Vorobyov stated, “We want to create a region where young people have every opportunity to succeed. These new youth centers will play a vital role in achieving that goal.”
